Doha Set to Host the 2024 FIP World Padel Championships

FIP World Padel Championships

The International Padel Federation (FIP) and the Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF) are excited to announce that the prestigious Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex in Doha, Qatar, will be the venue for the 17th edition of the FIP World Padel Championships from October 28 to November 2, 2024.

This flagship biennial event will feature 16 national teams from both men’s and women’s categories, competing at the apex of national team padel tournaments. Qatar was selected for its exceptional facilities, comprehensive player support, robust security, and the rapidly growing local enthusiasm for padel, fostered by proactive initiatives from the QTF.

Luis Fernando Ramirez, USA Team Coach, is eagerly anticipating the championships, stating, “The World Championship is the ultimate stage for a player to represent their country on a team level. It’s a privilege and a reward for their dedication and hard work. As we head into the qualification phase, we’re excited to see who our rivals will be. We have a strong group ready to make some noise and take the USA flag to Qatar. Our potential players, competing on the A1P Tour, Pro Padel League, Red Padel Circuit, Argentinian Padel Tour, and our USPA Chosen Foods Circuit, are being closely watched and prepared for this enormous challenge.”

The event boasts a prize pool of €500,000, equally distributed between men and women, reflecting the sport’s commitment to gender equality. This championship not only celebrates top athletic talent but also supports the broader principles of fairness and inclusivity in sports.

Luigi Carraro, President of the International Padel Federation, expressed his satisfaction with the venue, noting, “Doha is a special home for padel – the Qatar Tennis Federation has played an integral role in repeatedly delivering unparalleled international padel tournaments; and we look forward to players and fans enjoying the fantastic hospitality and conditions during the most important tournament in our 2024 calendar.”

Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, President of the Qatar Tennis Federation, added, “Qatar has an exceptional track record of delivering fantastic major sporting events based on the highest standards, where the conditions for players and fans are second-to-none. We are delighted to partner with the International Padel Federation to deliver this pinnacle tournament, and continue to support FIP’s mission to drive the growth and development of padel worldwide.”

The FIP World Padel Championships returns to Doha three years after the extraordinary success of the 2022 edition. That year, 32 teams from 19 countries competed, with Spain and Argentina claiming the top spots. This year’s championships are expected to build on that success and showcase the most talented athletes in padel.

Supporting Team USA in their quest for victory are their dedicated Team USA sponsors, Padel Haus, Padel Lux, and Van Eck, whose ongoing support is crucial in preparing the team for international competition. The involvement of these sponsors underscores the growing enthusiasm and investment in padel sports in the United States, enhancing the team’s ability to perform at their best on the world stage.
