USA’s Wild Card Journey at Miami Premier Padel P1: A Historic Step Forward

Wild Cards

The motorola razr Miami Premier Padel P1 has been a groundbreaking event for American padel, marking the first time in history that multiple U.S. teams competed in a Premier Padel tournament. Five American pairs—three in the main draw and two in qualifying—earned their spots through the USPA Wild Card Tournament and showcased their talent on the world stage.

The road to Miami was not easy, but the American players seized the opportunity with determination. Competing against some of the world’s best, they proved that U.S. padel is rapidly rising.

In the qualifying draw, Jose De Armas & Raul Ruiz Alvarez took on Guillermo Collado Losada & Thomas Leygue of Spain and France, respectively. Despite a valiant effort, the American duo fell 6-1, 6-3, ending their campaign in the qualifiers. On the women’s side, Sofia Adamowich & Egle Petrauskaite faced Melania Saez & Agueda Perez Ortiz of Spain, but were overpowered 6-1, 6-2.

The main draw brought even more action and historic moments. Brittany Dubins & Marta Morga had the tough task of facing Spanish stars Veronica Virseda & Alejandra Salazar Bengoechea, falling 6-0, 6-0. Despite the scoreline, Dubins and Morga made history as one of the first American women’s teams to compete in a Premier Padel P1 event.

On the men’s side, Nico Agritelley & Vinny Di Francesco defeated fellow U.S. wild card team Matias Segura & Aaron Segura in a hard-fought 6-3, 6-4 victory. Their reward? A showdown with Francisco Guerrero & Jairo Bautista of Spain in the second round. However, the Americans were unable to overcome the experienced Spanish pair, falling 6-2, 6-2.

With the U.S. players’ run now complete, the Miami Premier Padel P1 heats up even further. Fans will be treated to thrilling matchups featuring some of the sport’s biggest stars.

The highly anticipated rivalry between Arturo Coello & Agustín Tapia and Fede Chingotto & Ale Galán could reach its next chapter at the Motorola Razr Miami Premier Padel P1, but only if both teams advance to Saturday’s semifinals. Today, the world’s top two pairs make their tournament debut—Chingotto & Galán face Alex Chozas & Alex Ruiz, while Coello & Tapia take on Javi García & Javier Barahona. For Coello, Miami is more than just another stop on the Premier Padel tour—it’s his second home, where he will return to train when not competing around the world.

Over the past year, Coello & Tapia vs. Chingotto & Galán has become one of the sport’s defining matchups, with the Spanish-Argentine duo leading the head-to-head 10-5. While their battles on outdoor courts have been evenly split, indoor venues—like the Miami Beach Convention Center—have heavily favored Coello & Tapia, who hold a 7-2 advantage. Still, with Juan Lebrón & Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas & Coki Nieto also entering the fray, the fight for the Miami title is wide open, and the ‘Big 4’ of world padel will have to defend their dominance.

With Saturday already sold out and Sunday anticipated to sell out soon, Friday may be the last chance to grab tickets for this historic event.

The Miami Beach Convention Center has been the epicenter of world-class padel, and the energy is only building. Don’t miss the opportunity to witness Premier Padel’s U.S. debut live!🎟 Secure your tickets before it’s too late: tickets.miamipremierpadel.com
