US NATIONAL TEAM HEADS TO QUITO FOR AMERICA PADEL CUP MATCHUP AGAINST ECUADOR
The United States National Padel Team is set to compete in Quito, Ecuador, from April 16 to 19, facing the host nation in the America Padel Cup.
The USA National Senior Team competes annually in FIP and Padel America Championships.
FIP Championships are played in a country-versus-country format, featuring five matches across different age groups. Typically, 40+, 45+, 50+, 55+, and 60+. For the FIP World Cup, up to 4 players per age bracket may be selected.
Padel America Championships may be the same format or a pairs competition where the pairs compete against other countries in a bracket-style tournament, earning points for their country based on their final placing. For the Padel America Championships, it may be as many as 8 players.
Senior eligibility is as follows for the USPA Circuit, Padel America, and FIP Competitions.
A player is eligible for an “Over X” category if they reach at least age X during the calendar year of the competition.
So for the “Over 55” category, one becomes eligible any time during the year they turn 55. It doesn’t matter whether their birthday is before or after the tournament date within that year, as long as they will celebrate their 55th birthday at some point in the same year as the competition, they can compete in “Over 55.”
Example – If someone turns 55 on December 15, 2026, they are allowed to compete in any “Over 55” events held throughout 2026, even those occurring before December 15.
