Become a Certified Padel Official with the United States Padel Association
The USPA Level 1 Officials Certification is designed for individuals looking to officiate USPA-sanctioned padel events across the United States. This course prepares you to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, consistency, and integrity on the court.
Whether you’re a coach, player, club staff member, or dedicated fan, this program equips you with the knowledge and tools to serve as a trusted and effective padel official.
What You’ll Learn
The fundamentals of officiating padel matches.
Core rules and regulations of padel (FIP and USPA standards).
Responsibilities of a roving or on-court umpire.
Conflict resolution and match control.
USPA tournament software and procedures.
Course Structure
The Level 1 Certification includes a mix of online self-paced learning, live training, and assessment:
60-minute onboarding call with a USPA representative
Online Study and Courses (4 - 6 hours)

* Roving Umpire
2 x 2-hour live video training calls
* FIP rules overview
* USPA tournament formats and procedures

Note: The SafeSport certification and background check are required for all USPA-certified officials.
- Must be 18 years or older
- Basic understanding of padel rules and scoring
- Access to a computer with reliable internet
- Comfortable with English communication
- Registration Deadline: Thursday, January 8, 2026
- Onboarding: Week of January 12. One-hour introductory call.
- Online Coursework: January 12th - January 31st. Complete four to six hours of flexible, online, self-paced study.
- Live Training Calls: Week of February 2nd. Two, two-hour calls with the USPA Head Official and other students.
- Final Exams: Week of February 9th. One-hour online exam.
- Official recognition as a USPA Certified Level 1 Official
- Listed in the USPA Officials Directory used by clubs and event organizers
- Eligible to officiate at USPA tournaments and national events
- Preferred selection for future FIP and international padel events
- Pathway to advance to Level 2 and Level 3 certification
