The Nox USPA Circuit wrapped up its stop in Mission, Texas, this past weekend, with RGV Padel Club hosting one of the most competitive D1 draws of the 2026 season. When the final point was played on Sunday, it was the top-seeded teams in the men’s and women’s draws walked away with the trophies.
Men’s D1: Top Seeds Deliver, but the Road Wasn’t Easy
Di Francesco and Andenmatten entered the weekend as the No. 1 seed, and their early rounds reflected that status. They moved cleanly through the bracket, dispatching Carlos Barroso and Pablo Barrera 6-1, 6-2 in the quarterfinals before edging the No. 3 seeds Nico Agritelley and Sergio Conde in a tight three-set semifinal, 6-3, 6-7, 7-6. That match was the kind of grind that either breaks a team or sharpens them. Di Francesco and Andenmatten came out of it sharpened.
On the other side of the draw, Almada and Leo “Tolito” Aguirre were the unseeded pair everyone had their eye on heading into the weekend. The Argentinian duo delivered, beating the No. 4 seeds Daniel Diaz and Jose David Sanchez Serrano 6-2, 6-1 in the quarters and outlasting the No. 2 seeds Luis Estrada and Guillermo Jimenez Cagigas in a three-set semifinal, 7-6, 3-6, 6-1. Their run to the final was a continuation of the form they have shown at the Premier Padel level: physical, disciplined, and difficult to put away.
The final itself had two clear swings. Di Francesco and Andenmatten took the first set comfortably. Almada and D’Aguirre responded to level it. The deciding set went to the top seeds, who closed it out 6-3 and claimed the USPA 1000 title.
For Di Francesco, it adds another title on the Nox USPA Circuit. For Andenmatten, he has yet to lose on the Nox USPA Circuit, and it’s his second USPA Circuit title with Di Francesco.
Women’s D1: Cortiles and Perez Remain Untouchable
The women’s draw produced an equally decisive result, just in a very different way. Top seeds Anna Cortiles and Luicelena Perez went through the entire weekend without dropping a set, capping their run with a dominant final against Marta Morga Alonso and Renata Martinez.
Their path to the final included wins over Emma Reyes and Estefania Fuentes in the semis, and convincing victories in earlier rounds. The No. 2 seeds, Jordana Lujan and Laura Arciniegas, received a first-round bye but were upset in the quarterfinals by Jimena Ortiz and Nerea Derbis, who were in turn defeated by Morga and Martinez 7-6, 6-4.
Cortiles and Perez have been the dominant women’s pair on the Nox USPA Circuit for the past two years. This performance in Mission only added to that case.
RGV Padel Club Delivers Again
This was the first time the USPA 1000 was held at RGV’s Mission location, which features seven courts and an elevated deck overlooking three of them. The setup gave the weekend a genuine tournament atmosphere, with spectators able to watch multiple courts from the same vantage point. The Rio Grande Valley padel community showed up for it, as they consistently do.
