From April 10 to 12, Padel X Miami hosted the latest stop on the FIP Promises Tour, drawing junior players from across the Americas for competition across six age divisions.
Under-14 Boys: Hernandez and Costantini take the title
The U14 final came down to the two top-seeded pairs. Santiago Hernandez and Santiago Constantini, seeded second, worked through a competitive bracket to face top seeds Jose Ramon Garrido and Jesus Miguel Atouan Traboulsi in the final and won. Their performance held up when the pressure was highest.
The road there included a semifinal against the Rives brothers from Spain. Hernandez and Costantini got through without dropping a set. The U14 field also included players from Mexico, Venezuela, and Spain.
Under-16 Boys: Gibly and Bozzola win a competitive draw
The U16 field was the most internationally varied of the weekend, with players from Spain, Colombia, Mexico, Great Britain, and Israel alongside a strong American contingent. Top seeds Aiden Gibly (USA) and Francisco Bozzola (ARG) were the best pair throughout, beating second seeds Finlay Harry Ferguson (GBR) and Jorge Chaul (USA) in the final.
Getting there required some real work. Ferguson and Chaul beat Sebastian Hernandez and Santiago Costantini 6-3, 6-2 in the semis. Gibly and Bozzola defeated Alejo Kalil and Jacob Segura Blanco in a 6-2, 6-3 semifinal win. American players also appeared throughout the draw.
Under-18 Boys: Spanish pair ends Gibly’s run
Aiden Gibly entered the U18 draw paired with Swedish player Ebbe Badersten, seeded third, and produced the match of the tournament in the semifinals: a hard-fought 7-6, 6-2 win over top seeds Pablo Avina and Francisco Bozzola. That was a sharp, focused match from a player who had already competed hard in a younger division.
The final went differently. Unseeded Spanish pair Iker Zamora Garcia and Pedro Alvarez Bejarano, who had beaten second seeds Santiago Castro Varela and Jorge Chaul in a tight semifinal (6-1, 4-6, 10-1), came out sharper against Badersten and Gibly and won 6-1, 6-4. The U18 bracket drew a strong U.S. contingent with Santiago Hernandez Ochoa, Jacob Segura, Matias Esteban Vazquez, Nikolas Palacios, and Jacobo Rodriguez all competing for the U.S.
Under-14 Girls: Bres Rohana sisters go 4-0
The U14 Girls draw was played in a round-robin format with five American pairs. Kiara and Valentina Bres Rohana went 4-0 through the group stage, dropping just six games across eight sets. Daniel Garcia Veiga and Ana Poch finished second in the group at 3-1, edging out Mariana Aguirre Terrazas and Marisabel Aguerrevere on results. The five U.S. teams all played four matches, receiving valuable match time.
Under-16 Girls: Cantu and Berlanga continue their run
The Under-16 Girls draw featured seven teams. Emma Cantu and Roberta Berlanga won the title with five strong performances. They topped group play and prevailed in the sem-finals against the Bres Rohana sisters. In the final, they defeated Katalina Correa and Lola Rose Cacares for the second time to take the title.
Correa and Cacasres did well to bounce back from finishing second in their group to win a tough semi-final against Ariana Sagrera and Olivia Gherardi 6-4, 1-6, 10-3. Sagrera and Gherardi were tough opponents in group play, winning all three of their matches to finish at the top.
Under-18 Girls: Cantu and Berlanga add a second title
After winning the U16 draw, Cantu and Berlanga stepped up to the U18 category and won that too. They went 3-0 in the group stage, to then meet Lola Rose Caceres and Luciana Cogorno in the final, winning 6-2, 6-1.
This was the second FIP Promises event held in the United States this year, with two more stops still to come. For every player who competed, the results feed directly into the FIP Continental rankings, points that accumulate toward national team selection and international seeding.
“We built Padel X Miami to host events like this, where kids from across the Americas come here and play for something real. Seeing eight countries in the draw and American juniors winning titles is the best advertisement the sport has,” said Nalle Grinda, tournament director. “International players, competitive draws, and a venue that shows what the sport can look like in this country, it was an amazing weekend.”
USA National Junior Team Girls Coach Lorena Rouillon Jimenez, who was on site throughout the weekend, saw it up close. “The level across all six divisions was the highest I’ve seen at a domestic event,” she said. “These kids are competing, not just participating, and the ranking points they earned this weekend are real.”
USA National Junior Team Boys Coach Jaume Rouillon Jimenez, who was in attendance supporting the players, said, “I’m proud of every player who competed this weekend, but what stood out to me was the energy from the first match to the last. Big draws, international travel, kids genuinely excited to compete, you could feel it. We’ve never seen that across all six divisions at once. And the improvement in American juniors from event to event is something I didn’t expect to see this fast.”
