With entry lists now published, FIP Promises San Francisco is ready to get underway. The West Coast’s first-ever FIP Promises stop runs August 28-30 at Park Padel in South San Francisco, and the main draws show a strong mix of American juniors going up against international competition in the Boys U14 and Boys U16 categories.

A new stop, a full slate

FIP Promises San Francisco is the fourth FIP Promises event hosted in the U.S. this year, joining prior stops in Illinois, Texas, and Florida. Play unfolds across Park Padel’s four indoor match courts.

Every point earned in San Francisco counts toward the FIP Promises Americas rankings, the same rankings that factor into national team selection ahead of the FIP Junior World Championships later this year. For the American juniors in the draw, that makes this a meaningful checkpoint before those global qualifiers.

Boys U14: home continent, home-court hopes

The Boys U14 main draw is headed by an international No. 1 seed, but American players are well represented near the top of the bracket. Leading the U.S. contingent is Santiago Costantini, the No. 1 seed, who pairs with Argentina’s Vitto Benvenuto. Right behind him is USA’s Nicolas Darmohusodo, and Alan Mendoza Colin, followed by Alexson Watts, seeded No. 4 and partnering with fellow American Willem Shpilsky. Also in the field are Matthew Toro, Matthew Helaman Velasco, and Benjamin Rohde.

Boys U16: an all-American top three

The Boys U16 category has an even more pronounced home-country presence at the top of the seeding list, with the first three seeds all going to American juniors. Alejandro Kalil holds the No. 1 seed, teaming with fellow American Emiliano Antonio Gonzalez. Santiago Costantini sits at No. 2, doubling up in the age group above his U14 entry and again partnered with Argentina’s Vitto Benvenuto. Jacobo Rodriguez rounds out the top three at No. 3, paired with fellow American Nicolas Darmohusodo. That trio, plus a deep supporting field that includes Alan Mendoza Colin, Manuel Isaac Oliver, Diego Sonville, and Willem Shpilsky, sets up a Boys U16 bracket where the path to the title is likely to run through American players at several stages.
