HELP SHAPE THE FUTURE OF PADEL: APPLY TO SERVE ON A USPA COMMITTEE

The United States Padel Association (USPA) relies on a dedicated network of volunteers to drive the growth and professionalization of the sport nationwide. Central to this mission are the USPA Committees, which allow members to take an active leadership role in shaping the organization’s future.

Below is an overview of the USPA Committee structure, the available committees, and the application process for those interested in serving.

The Role of USPA Committees

USPA Committees serve as the operational backbone of the association. While the Board of Directors sets the high-level vision and strategy, committees are responsible for operationalizing these plans. They focus on specific domains crucial to the sport’s integrity and expansion, from managing national team logistics to overseeing tournament standards.

Serving on a committee is not only a way to give back to the padel community but also a pathway to future leadership; service on a committee for at least one year is a prerequisite for eligibility to serve on the USPA Board of Directors.

Available Committees

The USPA divides its volunteer efforts into several key areas of focus. While specific committees may evolve annually based on strategic needs, the core standing committees typically include:

  • US National Teams Committee: Dedicated to fostering competitive excellence. This group supports American athletes in national and international arenas, managing logistics, selection criteria, and fundraising for Team USA.
  • Competition Committee: Oversees the equitable administration of tournaments and the maintenance of national rankings. This committee is vital for ensuring fair play and managing the software and systems used for sanctioned events.
  • Governance and Finance Committees: Comprised of members with skills in organizational governance and finance. They ensure the USPA operates with accountability, fiscal responsibility, and strategic foresight.
  • Club and Membership Committees: Focuses on strengthening the relationship among the USPA, its affiliate clubs, and the general membership. They work to grow the network of places to play and ensure member needs are met.
  • Junior Growth and Development Committee: A newer addition focused specifically on the growth of the sport among youth players, ensuring a pipeline of talent for the future.

Eligibility and Requirements

To serve on a USPA Committee, an applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Membership: You must be a current USPA member in good standing.
  • Commitment: Members must be ready to dedicate time to advancing the USPA’s mission.
  • Term Length: Committee members serve a one-year term. However, members are encouraged to apply to serve multiple terms if they would like to do so.

The Application Process

  • Selection: Committee members are selected by the respective Committee Chairperson and Vice Chairperson.
