Some people served the sport from a desk or a club; others serve it from the baseline. Ana Magrini has spent the last fifteen years doing both, often in the same week, and frequently in the same afternoon.
For her dedication to the sport and USA Padel, Ana has received a USA Padel Service Award, part of the inaugural USA Padel Awards presented this National Padel Month. For anyone who has followed the USA National Team, the honor will come as no surprise. She has been the team’s delegate, one of its most reliable players, and at times an extra coach on the bench, all while helping the women’s squad climb from 7th place at the 2024 Senior World Championships to World Cup finalists in 2026.
Although Ana grew up in Argentina, she didn’t start playing padel until she was an adult living in Miami. In 2011, she started at a Miami club and, on her first day, met future teammates and lifelong friends Natalia DeBiasi and Mariana Talarico. Having played competitive field hockey in her youth, Ana earned a spot on the U.S. Absolute Team at the 2012 World Championships just a year after picking up a racket.
Ana continued as a member of the Absolute Team until 2022. Highlights include playing in six World Championships, additional qualifiers, and traveling the world to represent the USA. Although she no longer represents the team at the absolute level, she continues to play for the Cat Libres and the Senior Teams. In November 2023, she played on the Pan American “Cat Libres” Amateur Padel Championships team in Cancún, Mexico. The US won the title for the first time, ahead of Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico.
Triple duty for the US National Padel Team
The job of a national-team delegate is mostly invisible: logistics, liaising with host federations, rosters, paperwork, and keeping dozens of traveling players pointed in the same direction. Magrini has held that role across multiple international events, while also competing for the past four years.
Ana was the women’s team delegate at the 2024 FIP World Padel Championships in Doha, Qatar. That year, she also served on USA Padel’s US National Teams Committee, the volunteer group that gives countless hours to prepare for tournaments and support players representing the country. In December 2024, at the Pan American Senior Championships in Mar del Plata, Argentina, she was credited with playing, serving as a delegate and, at times, coaching her teammates. That event saw the US bring its largest-ever delegation, more than 70 players.
At the 2026 FIP Senior World Cup in Buenos Aires in September, she again served as delegate while playing on the women’s team that won silver.
Domestically, she remains a competitor on the circuit, regularly traveling across the USA to compete in tournaments
A partnership that delivers when it counts
On court, Ana has had many partners over the years; one of her most productive pairings has been with Lisa Teer, and the duo has repeatedly delivered for the US in high-pressure ties. The pair won gold at the 2025 Pan American Senior Championships, where the USA team finished third overall. In 2024, the pair won a silver medal at the Pan American Senior Championships. At the 2024 Senior World Cup, they were undefeated as a pair, as the USA team finished seventh. This year’s Senior World Championship in Buenos Aires was the defining chapter. In the quarterfinal against second-seeded France, the US trailed 0-2 in a first-to-three format. After two wins leveled it at 2-2, it came down to Magrini and Teer. They dropped the first set, then won a two-hour match 10-6 in a third-set tiebreak to send the US into the semifinals.
They won again in the semifinal against Belgium, sending the US into its first-ever padel World Cup final.
The definition of service
“Ana is the definition of service. Most people would be satisfied just making a national team. Ana makes the team, plays the decisive match, and then goes back to the hotel to sort out the next day’s schedule for everyone else. On behalf of USA Padel, thank you, Ana, for everything you have given this sport and this team,” said Bill Ullman, President of USA Padel.
“Behind every result our national teams achieve, there are people doing work nobody sees. Ana has been one of those people for years, as a delegate, a leader, and a teammate, and she has done it as a volunteer. This award is our way of saying thank you, and of making sure the padel community knows how much she has contributed,” said Scott Colebourne, CEO of USA Padel.
The inaugural USA Padel Awards honor the people behind padel’s rise in America. In Ana Magrini, they found someone who has been carrying a racquet and a clipboard at the same time for the past fifteen years.
