The United States National Padel Team is set to compete in Quito, Ecuador, from April 16 to 19, facing the host nation in the America Padel Cup. The matchup takes place at La Pala club and marks another chapter in the USA’s growing presence in international team competition across the Americas.
The squad traveling to Ecuador includes four adult players, four junior players, a head coach, an assistant coach, and a team delegate. Representing the USA in the adult divisions are Clementina Riobueno and Dhanielly Quevedo on the women’s side, and Vinny DiFrancesco and Nico Agritelley in the men’s draw. On the junior side, Pablo Aviña and Camilo Velasco will compete in the U18 men’s category, while Roberta Berlanga and Delfina Inza will represent the USA in the U18 women’s category. The delegation is led by head coach Jacobo Blanco, assistant coach Mariana Talarico, and delegate Tomas Galvez Santaella.
The America Padel Cup format puts national federations head-to-head across multiple categories, including men’s absolute, women’s absolute, mixed, and under-18 divisions for both boys and girls. For the US program, that combination matters. It means the same trip develops junior players alongside seasoned adult competitors, giving the younger players a chance to see firsthand what the top level of the game looks like from a few courts over.
Ecuador is a formidable opponent on home soil. The tournament is organized through the Ecuadorian Padel Federation (FEPAD) and directed by Andres Gomez, with Diego Tusa serving as head referee. Playing in Quito, at altitude, in front of a home crowd adds a layer of challenge that the US team will need to prepare for.
Agritelley and DiFrancesco are the two highest-ranked American men on the FIP circuit and bring genuine international experience to the draw. On the women’s side, Riobueno and Quevedo represent the continued development of the USA’s adult women’s program. The juniors, meanwhile, are no strangers to this level of competition. Berlanga and Inza both competed at the FIP Junior World Cup in Spain last fall, where Berlanga and her partner advanced to the round of 16.
This trip reflects exactly the kind of pathway the USPA has been building: structured international exposure, competitive matchups against South American nations, and a roster that mixes proven players with the next generation coming up behind them.
