DIAZ AND SANCHEZ SERRANO CLAIM THEIR SECOND USPA 2000 TITLE THIS YEAR

The USPA 2000 SNH Capital Open wrapped up Sunday at Padel39’s new East Austin location in Austin, Texas, capping a weekend of high-level competition across the divisions. The tournament drew a deep international field, with players from more than a dozen countries competing alongside the strongest names on the USPA Circuit. When the final points were played, a familiar pair stood at the top of the men’s podium, while the women’s draw produced one of the more surprising finals of the season.

Men’s D1: Diaz and Sanchez Serrano make it two in a row

Daniel Diaz and Jose David Sanchez Serrano are quickly becoming the dominant force on the USPA 2000 circuit. With the title in Austin, the pair have now won both USPA 2000 events of the year, taking the Las Vegas Open and now the SNH Capital Open, a run that has put them firmly at the top of the 2026 Race.

In the quarterfinals, Diaz and Sanchez Serrano handled Carlos Barroso and Gianluca Reynafe without dropping a set. Gabriel Agustin Marchesani and Carlos Javier Res beat Raul Ruiz and Jose De Armas 7-5, 6-4. Nico Agritelley and Sergio Conde took care of Miguel Briega Ramos and Nicolas Xiviller. On the other side of the draw, Vinny Di Francesco and Ivo Andenmatten got past Maxime Mora and Pablo Barrera 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.

In the semifinals, Diaz and Sanchez Serrano beat Gabriel Agustin Marchesani and Carlos Javier Res 7-6, 7-6 to book their spot in the final. Di Francesco and Andenmatten came through against Agritelley and Conde 6-2, 7-6.

The final set up a meeting between two of the hottest teams on the circuit. Di Francesco and Andenmatten came in as RGV 1000 champions, while Diaz and Sanchez Serrano were chasing their second USPA 2000 title of the year. Diaz and Sanchez Serrano won it 6-3, 7-5 to take the SNH Capital title and extend their lead at the top of the 2026 Race.

Women’s D1: Wild card pair reaches the final, Dubins and Coellar claim the title

The women’s draw produced one of the bigger stories of the USPA 2000 season. Carla Rodriguez Sanchez and Alba Perez entered the tournament as a wild-card pair with no seeding and no guaranteed path through the bracket, having not competed on the USPA Circuit in the past year.

In the quarterfinals, top seeds Anna Cortiles and Luicelena Perez beat Erika Castillo and Crystal Leung. Whilst Rodriguez Sanchez and Perez knocked out the third seeds, Jordana Lujan and Ornella Beltramino. Brittany Dubins and Camila Ramme Coellar defeated Astrid Gehre and Bego Benjumeda. Second seeds Marta Morga Alonso and Renata Martinez beat Dhany Quevedo and Clementina Riobueno.

The semifinals produced the tournament’s upset. Rodriguez Sanchez and Perez eliminated top seeds Cortiles and Perez, ending the run of the most consistent pair on the circuit this year. Dubins and Coellar beat Morga and Martinez to set up the final.

In the final, Dubins and Coellar were the stronger side throughout, beating Rodriguez Sanchez and Perez to claim the SNH Capital Open title. Whilst the wild card run from Rodriguez Sanchez and Perez was a big story, Dubins returning to the winners circle on the USPA circuit is welcome and is her first title this year.

New Club and Management Team Shines

Whilst the court action was outstanding, equally impressive was the new Padel 39 East Austin location. Having only opened a week prior, the facility drew rave reviews from all in attendance. With 11 courts, a coffee shop, a complete bar and club, locker rooms, fitness area, steam, sauna, and plunge pools, a large covered outdoor seating area, a 20ft high outdoor screen for watch parties, and food trucks, this is one of the most impressive stops on the USPA circuit.
