Men’s Divisions Deliver Thrills Across All Ages
The Young Guns (35+ Division)
The weekend’s most nail-biting finish came courtesy of Martin Navarro and Andres Plasencia, who faced off against Eduardo Diverio and Kyle Shepard in a match with spectators on the edge of their seats. After splitting the first two sets 7-5, 5-7, everything came down to the decisive super tiebreak. In a display of nerves of steel, Navarro and Plasencia clinched the championship with a heart-stopping 10-8 victory.
The Experienced Competitors (45+ Division)
Experience showed its worth as Juan Arraya and Rudi Kalil delivered a masterclass performance against Brian Lubin and Eric Zolnosky. The duo dominated from start to finish with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 straight-set victory, showcasing the tactical awareness and consistent execution that comes with years on the court. It was a clinical display of padel excellence that left no doubt about who deserved the championship.
The Masters (55+ Division)
Perhaps no match better exemplified the fighting spirit of padel than the encounter between Javier Maldonado and Gabriel Sanchez Iniesta against Mehdi Alami and Claudio Lopez. This three-set thriller saw momentum swing back and forth like a pendulum. After taking the first set 7-5, Maldonado and Sanchez Iniesta watched their opponents bounce back with a decisive 6-3 second set. But when it mattered most, the eventual champions showed their mettle, edging out an 11-9 super tiebreak victory that left everyone breathless.
Women’s Champions Rise to the Occasion
In the 45+ women’s division, Cynthia Ainsa and Patricia Salazar emerged as champions, demonstrating the skill and determination that make them a force to be reckoned with on the national padel scene.
Claudia Mollerup-Madsen and Cristina Petrosini claimed the title in the 55+ women’s division, adding another chapter to what promises to be a continuing story of excellence in women’s padel.
