FIP SILVER SAN DIEGO: A MILESTONE MOMENT FOR AMERICAN PADEL

The FIP Silver San Diego tournament has concluded with resounding success, marking a significant milestone in the growth of padel tennis across the United States. Hosted at Padel N9NE, the event showcased the rising talent of American players while demonstrating the country’s readiness to compete on the international stage.

The tournament saw impressive representation from U.S. players, with 18 Americans competing in the men’s draw and 9 American players competing in the women’s division.

Several American players made their mark in the competition, with multiple teams advancing deep into the bracket. With their respective partners, Americans Matias Segura and Sebastian Castaneda advanced to the round of 16. As did US National Team Member Nico Agritelley, who partnered with national team coach Jacobo Blanco.

The American momentum continued as Jose De Armas and Raul Ruiz advanced to the quarterfinals. At the same time, USA number one Vinny Di Francesco and his Argentine partner Octavio Alvarez delivered an impressive performance, securing a spot in the semifinals.

The women’s division provided the tournament’s crowning achievement for American padel. Jennifer Demsey and Cammy MacGregor advanced to the quarterfinals, as did Marta Morga Alonso and Renata Martinez Becerra.

However, the stars of the draw were USA’s Brittany Dubins and her partner, Anna Cortiles from Spain, who currently resides in the USA and is ranked number one in the USPA Circuit rankings. The pair advanced through the draw, including a very tough semi-final victory over the number two seeds 6-2, 6-7, 7-6. In the final, Dubins and Cortiles proved unstoppable in a straight-sets victory. The win was Dubin’s second Cupra FIP title on US soil this year after victory at the FIP Bronze Austin in October.

“At Padel N9NE, our goal was to deliver an event that matched the passion and professionalism of the global padel community,” reflected tournament director Frederick. “The FIP Silver San Diego gave us the chance to show the international padel world that the sport is truly growing in the U.S. and that there are incredible opportunities ahead.”

According to Frederick, the event exceeded expectations in both execution and reception. “Everything ran as smoothly as we could have hoped for, and we’re deeply grateful to everyone who made it possible – from local fans, friends, supporters, and partners, to the players competing, from Wild Cards all the way up to Premier Padel level talents.”

The positive feedback from international players has validated what organizers and supporters have long believed: California, and the broader United States, is becoming a legitimate hub for competitive padel.

“Seeing the world-class level of play and hearing the positive feedback from international players reaffirmed how far padel has come in California and how much potential still lies ahead,” Frederick noted.

With strong American performances across both divisions, enthusiastic local support, and seamless event management, the FIP Silver San Diego has set a new benchmark for padel tournaments in the United States. As the sport continues its rapid expansion across the country, events like this prove that American padel is not just participating in the global conversation, it’s helping to lead it.
